Buttoned’s Favorite Ways to Spread the Self-Love

 

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love is definitely in the air. The stores are filled with roses, Netflix is filled with Nicholas Sparks movies, and our junk drawers are soon to be filled with heart shaped candies that our mom sent us in the mail. While we’re so busy spreading love to those around us, there is one person that we often forget to show love to at this time of year: ourselves! Self love is not always the easiest, but we all deserve to appreciate and celebrate the hard work we put in everyday, even if that hard work is brushing our hair, making it to class, or just drinking some water. Life is hard and we think every single one of you are doing amazing. That’s why Buttoned wants you to treat yourself to a self-care day (or night!) and we’ve come up with a list of some of our favorite ways that we can show ourselves the love we deserve:

Choose comfort!

Loungewear is an absolute must for a day of self-care. Maybe take a trip to Target and treat yourself to that pajama set you’ve had your eye on for months or dig out your favorite sweats and fuzzy socks combo. This is your day, so wear whatever makes you feel good.

Journal your heart out!

We probably all have a journal (or several) that has been sitting untouched for months on end, so take this day to brush the dust off it and get whatever you need off of your chest. Maybe take your journal to the park or your favorite coffee shop and spend some time writing, sketching, painting, coloring, or filling it up with anything you feel like.

Dance the night away!

Sometimes we get so caught up in the craziness of life that we forget what it’s like to let loose and just have fun. A dance sesh is one of our favorite ways to let go of worry and get those endorphins pumping. Put on your favorite song, (we recommend Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well”) turn up the volume, and dance like no one’s watching.

What’s a self-care day without bubbles? 

Is it really a self-care day if you didn’t pamper yourself a little? After your dance sesh, try running a bubble bath and maybe putting on a face mask for the full spa experience. Turn on your comfort show or your favorite podcast and let the relaxation wash over you.

Cooking can sometimes be a lot of work and picking up food in Waco is a daunting task. Skip the traffic and deliver your favorite comfort food straight to your front door. We can vouch that food definitely tastes better in takeout containers. Oh, and don’t forget the dessert.

These are just a few of our favorite things to do on our self-care days to help you start planning yours. Remember that you deserve the same amount of love that you show others and it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes. Your day should be all about you and the things that make you feel good, so let this list serve as a starting point. We hope you are able to prioritize self-love in this busy season.
