Love your look

Valentine’s Day. You either love it or you hate it. The pink hearts and red roses either melt your heart or disgust it. But regardless of how you feel towards the holiday, it’s still admittedly an excuse to dress up, and here at Buttoned, we’ll gladly take that opportunity. So whether you’re staying at home and celebrating self-love, throwing a festive Galentine's party, or have a romantic date planned with your significant other, here are a few outfit inspirations to love your look no matter what you’re doing this Valentine’s.

Cute and Cozy at Home:

Maybe you’re not into Valentine’s Day and want to boycott its over-romanticization of love, or maybe you just want to celebrate from the comforts of your room with a rom-com and some ice cream. Whatever the reason, home is the place for you on V-day, and there’s no place like home to feel cute and cozy. Throw on some joggers with an oversized sweater, braid your hair into loose pigtails, and if you’re really feeling it, add a cute beanie to top it all off. Alternatively, a cool pajama set has never failed to make a comfy yet fashionable statement.

Fun and Festive with the Girls:

Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating the people you love, and who do we love more than our girl gang? Going out with friends calls for a statement look, and Buttoned suggests not holding back. If you want something comfortable yet equally as stylish, try pairing high-waisted black jeans with a silky blouse tied at the waist and some black boots to finish it off. Layer some necklaces or keep it simple with some hoops. If you want something bolder, go for a leather or cheetah patterned mini skirt with a tucked in white blouse and a black belt to draw it all together. Top it off with a funky accessory like a red beret or some statement thigh high boots, and you know you’ll love your look. Go for pin straight hair or big, bouncy curls with a modern smokey eye and dark lip color to compliment your outfit.

Sweet and Flirty with your S.O.

As cliché as it is, it’s hard not to be a sucker for the whole flowers and chocolate ordeal, as well as that perfect Valentine’s date. So, if you’re spending your day with that special someone, keep it fun and flirty with your outfit. Want a classic look? Try piecing together a flowy wrap dress with some red lipstick and chunky heels. Pair that with a half up half down hairstyle with soft waves to frame your face. To spice up this look, layer a long sleeve shirt or turtleneck (we promise they’re making a comeback) under the dress or swap the heels for some Doc Martens. Experiment with softer makeup looks with rosy cheeks, a hint of glow, and a simple nude eye. And if it’s chilly out, throw on a leather jacket, and you’re ready for your special date!

We hope we’ve inspired you to love your look regardless of your attitude towards Valentine’s Day. Buttoned also wishes that however you spend the holiday, you remember to not only love your look but to love yourself as well. Happy Valentine’s Day, guys!
