NYFW Spring 2020 Review
Once again, New York Fashion Week has come and gone! We’re sad that our Instagram feeds are no longer full of runway pictures, and the Youtube live streams are over. To help the mourning process we put together a collection of our favorite looks from last week. From highly anticipated collabs to runway shows by traditional names, we have a wide range of favorites.
Cameron’s Picks
Brandon Maxwell
Brandon Maxwell -- this year's CFDA Women's Fashion designer of the year, Lady Gaga's most trusted designer, and a born and raised Texan was one of the most sought after designers of New York Fashion Week. With this year being the biggest in his career it is no wonder that his collection has been getting so much attention. At this years NYFW, Maxwell did not disappoint. For the first time ever, Brandon Maxwell has added men's clothing to his Ready-To-Wear collection with models such as Gigi Hadid walking down the runway wearing matching garments as Maxwell's new menswear. Maxwells iconic sleek and minimalistic style shines with his designs, providing us with new trends for the season.

Bibhumo Mohapatra
Bimbhu Mohapatra, an Indian raised designer and FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) graduate, launched his chic spring collection this past week. His brightly colored garments are much brighter than his most recent collections. The combination of patterns and mesh fabrics create an edgy and simplistic look. This collection grabbed my attention because I couldn't help but notice its similarities between Mohapatra's spring 2020 collection and Carolina Herrera's spring 2019 collection. Although both of these designers have very different brand aesthetics, these two collections share similar colors, patterns, and garment styles while staying true to their brands overall look.

TommyXZendaya
Zendaya has been busy lately balancing her part in Euphoria while collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger for this season collection. This is not the first time these two creative minds have come together to create a collection. For the second time, the 23-year-old actress has done her part helping the fashion world. For their collection, models of all shapes and sizes gathered for a 70s block party themed show. Models, including pregnant Ashley Graham, danced through the mock city streets. Although more and more designers are starting to have a larger variety of models on their runway, this was the most diverse show I have seen yet.

Brock Collection
After celebrating it’s fifth birthday this year, the Brock Collection showed the world that it’s all grown-up in this mature Spring Collection. This show was soft, romantic and dreamy. It was femininity with a touch of masculinity. The line had me dreaming of my future wedding dress, and it put me in the mood for some good English tea. This was definitely one of my favorites!

Marc Jacobs
Every NYFW, Marc Jacobs mesmerizes the crowd, and this season was no exception. The 70s color palette had me wanting to redecorate my apartment, and I’m here for the urban cowboy look (I’m especially obsessed with the pink cowboy hat). This line was fun, energetic and spunky. Well done Marc! Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate the iconic duo that the Hadid sisters are?

Proenza Schouler
This line gave me major office inspiration (if only I had seen this line before my summer internship). This line expressed some gender fluidity and major boss vibes. Is this permission to wear sneakers to work?

Coach 1941
Ok, 1941 was obviously the time to be alive! This collection was vibrant, casual and trendy. I want one of everything!

Anna Sui
Anna Sui was a new name for me to follow this year, and I’m so glad that I did. I am a fan of all things pastel and these few outfits were some of my favorites from the week. The middle outfit in the second picture reminded me of the outfit Princess Mia wore in Princess Diaries 2 when she formally met Nicholas Devereaux. Does anyone else see it?

Oscar de la Renta
I have to wrap up my favorites with none other than Oscar de la Renta. It is every girls’ dream to wear one of his dresses. This line was classic, glamorous and elegant. The brand did a fantastic job with this line, and I think it’s safe to say it was my favorite show from this NYFW.

NYFW may be over, but this isn’t the last time we’ll be seeing these collections. We can’t wait to see these trends in the spring. Hope you have as much fun reading this as we did writing it!
XOXO,
Ave & Cam
