Fashion Week Trend Forecasting
Written by Kaitlyn Cameron
It’s the first week of February and you know what that means! Fashion month is among us. From New York to Copenhagen to Milan, the world's top designers are coming together this month to showcase their Fall 2020 Ready-To-Wear collections, leaving us with an array of trends for the upcoming seasons. As much as we love watching what's new on the runway, it's just as fun and insightful to see what the fashion communities elite are wearing to these shows. These A-listers stay up to date on trends and decide what looks they will take from the runway to their closets. Instead of having to weed through countless Instagram posts and runway looks, we have put together the top trends taken from fashion month so far for you to recreate at home.
Monochrome
The monochromatic color palette has had a presence in the fashion community since Kanye’s first Yeezy collection. Without a doubt this color scheme has had a heavy presence this season and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Designers including, Marc Jacobs, Jacquemus, Tom Ford, and Sally La Pointe, almost entirely filled their collections with monochromatic designs. While varying in shades, styles, and overall aesthetic, all these designs carry the same simplistic look. Marc Jacobs started his show with consecutive 60’s inspired monochromatic looks. Not to mention an unexpected runway debut from Miley Cyrus dressed in all black. Creating a monochromatic look at home is an easy and cheap way to translate fashion weeks trends into your everyday outfits.
Animal Print
From what we've seen so far, looks are either monochromatic or they have wild patterns, with little in between. Whether it be a cheetah print coat or zebra boots, these patterns will catch your eye on the runway and the streets. Patterns that go with any season and any color are the perfect statement piece to add to your wardrobe.
Layered Purses
For those who enjoyed cracking jokes at Tezza's Micro Purse, you can say goodbye to those less than practical accessories. This season's trend will keep all of your necessities in close reach. Grab your bags! From fannys, to over the shoulder, to crossbodys, you can wear them all. This season instead of stacking necklaces, New York's A-listers have been stacking purses. This trend is perfect for any season, worn over big sweaters or summer dresses. Dig out your unused bags and add them to any outfit as an easy way to hop onto the fall fashion week trends no matter the weather.

Accent Scarves
This year's fashion month has shown the spotlight on a warmer alternative to accent jewelry. Practical and fashionable, scarves are the new accessory of choice. With all of the colors and sizes they can be paired with any outfit no matter the style. Put those accent scarves into action by turning them into a statement piece paired with jeans and a basic top or a dress for an all year long accessory.

Trench Coats
With it being Fall fashion week, it is a given that there will be new jacket trends. This season designers and stylists have taken it into their own hands to change up your everyday trench coat. Keeping with this season's color scheme we have seens lots of two toned, patterned, and solid colored trenches. We see designers playing with bright and neutral color combinations along with an occasional pop of pattern for a modern twist on a basic garment. From the runway to the audience, bright leather trenches have been seen all over. Worn with a belt cinched at the waist, this look is trendy and chic.
Puffer Jackets
Puffer jackets have been in and out of styles for decades. After this season's fashion week it is safe to say they are back in. Short or long, any length puffer is the perfect way to top off your outfit this fall. Even with our current warm weather a cropped puffer jacket can spruce up your spring attire.

Matching Suit Sets
Matching suit sets have had a consistent uproar in popularity over the years, so it is no surprise we are currently seeing them on and off the runway. The fluidity of this trend throughout seasons is one of the reasons it has stayed in fashion for so long. This suit style has been an entryway for streetwear designers to add an urban twist to professional attire. Designers such as Jacquemus have used a classic blazer to complete numerous looks during this season's fashion week. Some ways to translate this look into your spring wardrobe is by pairing a plaid or solid blazer with a matching pant or skirt. Adding a matching blazer to your outfit creates a sophisticated, put together look for weekdays and weekends.
