Chris Kariuki is a musician with a flair for fashion. He blurs the lines of masculinity and femininity and is not afraid to be authentic. Chris is skilled at curating the cleanest outfits and takes risks with fashion. Chris is this week’s So Hot Right Now because he is an inspiration to others to dress to please themselves and no one else.

How would you define your style?

I really can’t even define myself under one “style.” I just wear what I feel best represents me and my state of mind that day. Urban, contemporary, masculine, feminine - I believe nothing has labels, including fashion. It’s just representative of you.

Where do you find the most style inspiration?

My style has many inspirations. Being a musician, I tend to look at my favorite artists and see what they’ve done for fashion. Mainly Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, Daft Punk and others.

What are your favorite trends right now?

I don’t know if this is a trend, but earth tones and monochromatic outfits are my favorite things right now. The sheer simplicity but cleanliness of the outfits are beautiful.

What are your favorite places to shop?

I’m definitely a thrifter like 85% of the time, but if not, Zara is my spot.

What’s one piece of clothing or pair of shoes you could not live without?

Turtleneck sweaters have become a staple for me. Once again, I think it’s just the clean simple look. Silk button downs are definitely some of my favorites too.

If you could have anyone’s wardrobe, who would it be?

Between Kanye West and Prince. The clean look of Kanye with the outstanding feminine look of Prince would be a beautiful combination.

What’s one piece of advice you would give someone looking to express themselves through fashion?

Dress HOWEVER you feel, because no matter how you try and fit in, someone is gonna find it ugly anyway.
