Preston Gossett is one of the friendliest and most sociable people you will meet. Going from high school uniforms to plaid pants and suspenders, Preston’s style and bubbly personality will surely catch your eye. What is a garment you can’t live without?
My high-top Air Forces. They honestly go with anything, and they make every outfit look better. Even with sweatpants, it still looks trendy. I overwear them, so they’re broken in. I basically wear them with every outfit because I feel confident when I do.
When creating an outfit, where do you start?
Pants. After I pick out my pants, I don't usually change them. Then I may go through a few shirts that I know go with those pants.
How has your style changed since being at Baylor?
In high school, we wore uniforms, and on the weekends I would wear athletic shorts and a shirt, so being at Baylor, I have had more freedom. I got to branch out and realize what style means to me. High school was judgemental, but being at Baylor, I stopped caring and started wearing what I was too afraid to wear.
How would you describe your style?
I kind of have two distinct styles, and I switch back and forth between each. The first is more of a California beach style. In the spring and summer, I wear a lot of beach shorts and bright colors or my black short cut jeans. The other has more of an urban vibe. I usually dress like this in the fall or winter. I tend to wear jeans or plaid pants with a leather jacket for a very Manhattan-esque look. I have lately been really into wearing slacks with a rolled up button-down and my Air Forces to make it more casual.
What is your Favorite clothing item/trend at the moment?
I really like wearing jerseys over sweatshirts. It looks cool and classic. I will usually wear my Rugrats buttoned-up jersey with either a black or white sweatshirt.
What is your favorite store to shop at?
Either H&M or Forever 21. They are both affordable, and H&M has a lot of trendy clothes that go with my more California style.
What is your favorite song right now?
Glitter by BENEE and Postcard by Troye Sivan
What is your dream job?
To be a travel writer, blogger, or photographer. I want to meet people and bring justice to their untold stories. I am really into writing and photography, and I would love to work for National Geographic or The New York Times, using my pictures to tell stories separate from my writing.
If you could interview anyone in the world who would it be? Why?
Billie Eilish. I respect and admire her so much because she just turned 18 and has done so much for herself. She has stayed true to her and doesn't let the outside world affect her. My respect for her grew after her interview with Calvin Klein, where she explained that she chooses to wear baggy clothes because it doesn't let people objectify her. I think that she’s taking power back from social media and breaking stereotypes. Also, her music is so powerful and important, and every one of her songs speaks to me. I mean she just won 5 Grammys, like what?!?!
