Need I say more for why she is this week’s SHRN?
How would you describe your personal style?
Sharp but feminine, unique but put together. I love color and sparkles, and I am big on accessories. Really, the only thing that tends to be consistent with my style is that I am more drawn to flashy pieces. However, in the last few years, I have been really into monochromatic looks and outfits with a little more edge. Truly, I will wear anything if I like it, whether it fits my personal style or not.
Who do you look to for style inspiration?
Zendaya, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Jaime Xie, Jackie Kennedy and Nastia Liukin. These are women who, to me, consistently stand out. They do not just wear amazing pieces, but they always have a stunning, complete look. Also, the stylist Luxury Law has worked with some of them, and I think he is so incredible and has been behind some of the best looks of the 2010’s.
What is your favorite piece of clothing in your closet?
Wow, it is so difficult to choose, because it is always changing. I would say my favorite is actually a top and skirt set. It is from a brand called Acler, and the unique construction and laser cut embroidery make it really special. It is one of those pieces that I will never sell.
What is an accessory that you cannot live without?
A handbag for sure. It can really pull an outfit together or add a little oomph.
What are your favorite trends at the moment?
TIE-DYE! I am so obsessed. My friends make fun of me for it because practically half my closet is filled with it. I have and always will love leopard print, especially on a sweater. More generally, anything smocked, blazers, statement coats, corset tops, voluminous sleeves/shoulders and matching sets are trends I’ve been really drawn to.
What is some advice you could give for timeless style?
Wear what you love and not necessarily what is trendy. Often, we look back at trends and cringe because they do not always age well. If trendy is what you like, that’s great. Just make sure you always feel like yourself in what you are wearing, because you are much less likely to regret it in the future when you look back.
What are some of your favorite brands?
Zimmerman, For Love and Lemons, Agolde, Louis Vuitton, Free People, BRACHA jewelry, Beach Riot, Alexis, BB Dakota and Jeffrey Campbell.
What advice would you like to leave with our readers?
Fashion is so subjective, so wear whatever makes you the most happy and the most excited. The only opinion that matters is your own, so don’t be afraid to be bold and stand out. The best style is the one that reflects you and your personality.
Sharum’s passion for fashion is contagious! We hope you find as much inspiration in her as we did.
