Halloween Character Outfit Inspiration

Halloween Character Outfit Inspiration

With Halloween approaching, I wanted to take a closer look at the styles of some iconic Halloween characters and see what kind of inspiration I could draw from their ~spooky~ styles. I ended up pulling ideas from a bunch of different characters, combining elements of their looks into one seasonal outfit of my own.

First of all: Sabrina the teenage witch. I found a picture of her in a black dress similar to one I already had, and I knew that was where I wanted to start.

Next I looked to Halloweentown, a favorite of mine. I wouldn’t say that Marnie is much of a fashionista, but a picture of her in a classic moon-and-star patterned witch hat and cloak inspired me to pair the dress with star-patterned tights.

To layer under the dress, I went with an emerald sweater, modeled after the color palette of Winifred in Hocus Pocus.

For shoes, I looked to Edward Scissorhands’ black leather ensemble and picked my Doc Martens.

Finally, I fixed my hair in pigtail braids to channel the one and only Wednesday Addams.

Though Halloween characters aren’t necessarily known for their fashion, I think I definitely found some new style tricks, and it was a treat to find inspiration from them.
