Lily Pellegrini’s bold eye for fashion turns heads when she’s walking down the street. With a knack for finding unique pieces and an appreciation of vintage fashion, her retro style is unlike any other. Lily’s fun personality complements this style, making her a clear choice for this week’s So Hot Right Now.
How would you describe your style?
I would say retro to a degree. I definitely like a lot of 70’s looks. I think that’s where the bell-bottoms come from. I guess it’s classic in a sense too.
Where do you find your fashion inspiration?
A lot from the late 60’s, early 70’s. That’s my favorite era for fashion. Also, my mom is very interested in fashion. She kind of raised me with that in mind, so I get a lot of inspiration from old looks she would wear when she was in her twenties.
Do you have any other style icons?
I used to love haute couture and high fashion. I was really interested in that, and I wanted to take as many elements from it as I could and apply it to daily life. I also love Coco Chanel. She’s the epitome of fashion to me.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
It’s kind of hard. I pick stuff up here and there. I like Nordstrom Rack a lot because I feel like they have a good medley of stuff, and it’s not as overpriced as a lot of other department stores. I thrift some items. It’s kind of here and there, hit or miss.
Do you have a favorite article of clothing?
I’m really into pants - just like really wacky pants. Crazy patterns. Weird shapes. I feel like they’re really cool.
What is your dream designer piece of clothing?
That is so hard! I love shoes. Just like crazy expensive designer shoes. They’ve always been my end-all be-all, but kind of unattainable. So I don’t know if I have one specific brand in mind, but any kind of high end shoes are my favorite.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to be more experimental with their style?
Just go for it! I have people say, “Oh, you always look so cute. How do you do it? Why do you do it?” I just do it because I like it. Just go with your gut and don’t care if anybody is looking at you!
