Buttoned photographer Kharis McFarland’s sunny personality is rivaled by her uniquely fun style. She pushes to be bold and experimental in her looks, making her this week’s So Hot Right Now!

How would you describe your style? I would say that my style is experimental and really just a mix of pieces of other styles. I really just wear what I think looks good and what makes me happy.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop? Mainly, I’ve been in to thrifting and hand-me-downs from family, but when I do get something new, it’s either Nike or Savage x Fenty.

Where do you get fashion inspiration from? Honestly, my roommate Kaleigh is a big inspiration for me because she is never scared of trying new things with her clothes, and I just want to emulate that in my own fashion but also my life. 

Who is your fashion icon? Right now, I’d say my fashion icon is probably Lizzo just because she wears what she wants and isn’t accustomed to staying in one box in her fashion or her music

 What is your favorite piece of clothing? Probably my Air Max 97s because they literally go with 90% of the clothes in my closet.

How did your style change in college? Well, I have gone through many phases in college, I even went through the whole colored fashion shade thing for probably way too long, but I just enjoy using fashion to push myself into new depths with my personality, so it’s a fun time.

What are your plans for the future? I plan to become a Certified Athletic Trainer after I get my Master’s in 2023, and then I really don’t know which realm of the field I want to work in yet, which is nerve-racking but also exciting.
